Einar and Eldar

Einar

Einar is a man in his fifties. He previously worked as a long-distance lorry driver. Six months ago, Einar had a stroke and became dependent on a wheelchair. He has therefore moved to Solstien 3. Einar has been highly motivated in his training and rehabilitation. One of the goals he has set himself is to return to the stands to watch his local football team play. Recently, however, he has lost some of his motivation to exercise, and has spent a lot of time at home.

Eldar

Eldar is 49 years old. He has been an accountant all of his working life. He suffered a stroke four months ago, which left him dependent on a wheelchair. The transition from an independent, working professional to a resident of Solstien 3 has been tough for Eldar. He likes to keep his surroundings tidy and to be in control of what is happening at all times. Before the stroke, Eldar had interests such as golf and gardening, and he often went to art exhibitions. Eldar is usually motivated to exercise, and his goal is to return to work and resume his interests.

Eldar has always had a close relationship with his mother. She has recently become ill, and Eldar has not been able to help her since his stroke. His sister has now therefore taken over the care of his mother.

You are a clinical placement student at Solstien 3, and today you will accompany your placement supervisor to a follow-up of Einar and/or Eldar.
